W07 Google Ads and Keywords
This week has definitely been a learning curve me. I have never really looked into Google Ads or Keywords. To be honest, I had never even considered running a Google Ad before this week. I have enjoyed learning about Google Ads and keywords however. For my website, my Google Ad will start with a focused Ad specific to North Carolina and will later expand to a larger region within the US. I will start in North Carolina only because my club location is here and my customers and target market are specific to the North Carolina area. As I expand my store and add products that will serve beach players from other regions, I will add new Ad regions.
When determining which devices, I would like to run my Ads on; I think smart phones, computers, and tablets would be the best. I coach teenagers who spent most of their time on a smart phone and have come quite used to searching their phones for everything. In addition, to hit their parents, the decision makers and paying customers, I find they use tablets and computers more often than smart phone doing transactions and research.
I think for my first attempt at running a Google Ad, I will start with using automatic bidding. It is my understanding, that automatic bidding puts more control in Google’s hand than mine and has Google do the heavy lifting. If I am understanding to concept correctly, automatic bidding is less time consuming and cumbersome for me as well. My schedule is very tight currently. With some experience, I may change my mind.
We have spent a great deal learning about campaigns, and keywords as well this week. Selecting solid keywords is very crucial. We put together a first run at our own keyword lists. I am curious to see if I am on the right page with my thought process. I know it’s important to find the right blend of specific and broad keywords. I ask myself, as a parent who has kids playing beach volleyball, what would I search. I am hoping my focus is accurate.
Great week of learning. I am a little excited to see how this Google Ads thing works out.
